Contact Lens Solutions

Contact Lens Solutions

Clean, rinse, disinfect and soak your special effect contact lenses with either Bausch & Lomb's "RENU" solution or Alcon's "OPTIFREE Express" solution to maintain sterility when not wearing the special effect contact lenses. Both come in a 'no rub' version, but some wearers still find they must rub their contact lenses from time to time to keep the contact lenses from getting a film on them. These solutions can be purchased in any drug store.

There are also 'Enzyme Cleaners' that can be used to supplement the cleaning process.  The Enzyme does not actually clean the contact lenses, but it does soften up the deposits and film on the contact lenses so that they may more easily be removed.  Follow instructions, and be sure to rinse off the cleaners properly, or the contact lenses will burn when you put them back on.

To enhance the cleaning process many Doctors also recommend adding a half pinch of 'baking soda' to about 6 drops of  the cleaning solution to make a paste.  They then rub this paste on the contact lenses as they would the cleaning solution, and this effectively removes stubborn deposits.  Be sure to thoroughly rinse off the baking soda and cleaner as this paste is rather gritty and would be very uncomfortable if any got in the eyes.

Do not open the contact lens vials unless you have the proper solutions and a contact lens storage case.
